Review: Tabula Rasa by Kristen Lippert-Martin

Sixteen-year-old Sarah has a rare chance at a new life. Or so the doctors tell her. She’s been undergoing a cutting-edge procedure that will render her a tabula rasa—a blank slate. Memory by memory her troubled past is being taken away.

But when her final surgery is interrupted and a team of elite soldiers invades the isolated hospital under cover of a massive blizzard, her fresh start could be her end.

Navigating familiar halls that have become a dangerous maze with the help of a teen computer hacker who's trying to bring the hospital down for his own reasons, Sarah starts to piece together who she is and why someone would want her erased. And she won’t be silenced again.

A high-stakes thriller featuring a non-stop race for survival and a smart heroine who will risk everything, Tabula Rasa is, in short, unforgettable.

Terri's Thoughts

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you!

This is a story that starts with action right from the get go.  With very little back story you are caught up in a flurry evil soldiers and a diabolical plot that the reader nor the heroine know motivates the actions.

This story was a little bit twisted.  Most of the characters were not of sound mind and the concept of a hospital that erases memories was just a little bit creepy.  While action packed the reader is kept in the dark as to the reason why Sarah was being hunted.  I wish that there were more tidbits offered along the way for the reason for the ambush in order to be a little more invested in the story.

At the end of the day the story offers a strong female lead who kicks some serious butt.  While it is not at all realistic it was not intended to be and still provides a reasonable amount of entertainment.  Although not in the same league as some other dystopian stories I have read it still offered me a nice escape from reality with a lightning paced plot.
