Review: Hot Secrets (Tall, Dark & Deadly #1) by Lisa Renee Jones

Royce Walker, a former FBI Agent, who’s opened a private security firm with his brothers, has always had the hots for the prim, proper Assistant District Attorney, but considered her hand’s off because of a family connection. However, when danger threatens Lauren, he isn’t willing to stand by and watch her get hurt. Now the passion for survival is only rivaled by the passion burning between them. And that passion, might just be the death of them both.

Kristine's Review:

I came across this book by accident. It was a free download on Amazon so I thought I would give it a try. I didn't read the synopsis so I had no idea what it was about or what to expect. It turned out to be a quick, easy and enjoyable read. It had mystery, suspense, a super sexy leading man and a whole lot of heat. When all was said and done it was an entertaining read.

There were a couple of things that stop me from giving it a higher rating. Although both Royce and Lauren were likable characters I felt that there was not enough character development before things got hot and steamy between them. Don't get me wrong, I like a little hot and steamy in my reads, but I found I was not quite there yet when it happened for these two making it not so believable. I did eventually catch up as the story unfolded but I just didn't feel the love/lust at first sight/touch as told in the book. Secondly, I found that the climax and ending was a tiny bit rushed.  These were just minor things that did not stop me from enjoying it. Over all a good read!
