Review: Wanting It All by Christi Barth

After narrowly surviving a bus crash in high school with his best friends, science geek Knox Davis resolved to become so successful that he could have anything and everything he wants. Now he’s über-wealthy, a huge business success, and a notorious ladies’ man. Knox refuses to limit himself to one woman, but when his latest conquest—a blond beauty from the Alaskan bush—challenges his superficial ways, Knox begins to see the world through her eyes, and finds he likes what he sees.

A nurturer at heart, Madison Abbott wants to put down roots. She left Alaska to meet Mr. Right—and to track down Logan, the half-brother she’s never met. Instead, she finds Knox. Although the sexy-as-sin bachelor may not seem like marriage material, Madison’s starting to think that Knox is The One. But Knox refuses to settle down, especially once he learns that Madison is his best friend’s little sister. Now it’s up to her to convince Knox that she’s everything he really wants.

Kristine's Thoughts:

** I received an advanced readers copy from Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**

Wanting It All is the second book in the Naked Men series but it can be read as a stand alone. This book was about Knox where the first book was about Griffin.

I think I may have enjoyed this book a little better than the first book. It seems that the series is gaining momentum as it goes. I complained with the first book that it was a little long winded but that was not the case with this one. It didn't drag, I wasn't skimming pages and it kept on point. In fact, I finished it in no time. That kink has definitely been worked out.

As far as the characters go, I really liked Madison. Yes she had high goals and expectations and she was a little bit "Disney" but her bubbly personality was infectious. Again (like in the first book) I wasn't as big a fan of the leading man. He was a womaniser with a map of where his conquests came from and a no apologies attitude towards it. Like Madison, I did find his brains sexy but his way with women was less than desirable. In fact, it seemed like a common trait with the "Naked Men."

A good romance happens when someone comes along that makes you want to be a better person and I guess that is the point of this series. Finding that special someone, the good, the bad, the ugly and everything in between. For that, I can forgive Knox and his undesirable past. It did make for some great reading whether or not I agreed with his actions or not.

Barth provided plenty of heat but didn't let it overtake the story or become repetitive. It was a nice balance and enhanced the chemistry way more than a ton of between the sheets action would have. I was pleased that the story didn't fall into the "wash, rinse, repeat" cycle (my term for it) that I find many romance books are guilty of. There was a little more depth because of it.

I am extremely curious about the rest of the "Naked Men" and that will keep me reading as the series progresses. I have a feeling that I will find my favourite leading man in one of the future instalments. Both Josh and Logan are on my radar!
